Just occasionally, I like to loosen up with charcoal. I am forever being encouraged to forget the detail and "go bigger". And I do thoroughly enjoy charcoal drawing - it is a totally different process to watercolour where it's all about laying down washes of paint. With charcoal, you just do it. Once again, there are many curves and curls involved in my pictures.

In addition, the originals of these are considerably larger than my flower paintings, so I have doubly satisfied the "go bigger" brigade!
